Erin, Stephanie & Jake
- thecoveteur.com

Who are you?
Erin Kleinberg, Stephanie Mark & Jake Rosenberg of The Coveteur -  a website that takes you behind-the-scenes and into the homes and closets of today’s tastemakers to see what culminates one’s style.

Distinguising feature?
Exclusive content. Sleek design. Detail-based shots. Clean photography. And an affinity for rare Chanels, Proenza Schouler, Isabel Marant and all things vintage.

At what point did it take off?
The day we launched, we got 20,000 hits and it caused the site to crash. At that moment, we realized we were onto something. Soon after there were write-ups on Style.com, Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily… all the major players. It was a surreal feeling. It didn’t take long for people to begin reaching out to us to shoot their closets.

What will you show us?
A taste of The Coveteur. Seven remarkable people, closets and interiors.

The full interview with Erin, Stephanie and Jake can be found in the print edition of The List, available end of March 2012.

CHARLOTTE RONSON
designer
- new york

Ahhhh. To be a Ronson. While our dreams of becoming an extended member of this talented family aren’t going to happen anytime soon, our next best bet is, in our opinion, playing with their personal treasures. Today, we bring you inside Charlotte Ronson’s NYC pad, where we got to witness first hand all the accessories and frocks that help make Ronson’s coveted style the definition of rock-and-roll-cool. Born in London and raised in New York, Ronson interned at places like Rolling Stone, Harper’s Bazaar and a myriad of fashion labels, where she began to hone her design skills. She began customizing her own vintage tees, her friends took notice, and shortly thereafter, she launched her first collection, C.Ronson – which eventually lead to her namesake collection of dynamic womenswear. “I love exploring different eras when I design. Grunge has really become a singular influence, and I like exploring the nuances of the era. The Spring ‘12 collection is a modern take on the 20’s Victorian era. The demure details and soft color palettes are offset by denim and patchwork elements from the restless grunge decade”. Come on in and take a look around, and remember, look…don’t touch.

GABRIELLE 'COCO' CHANEL'S APARTMENT
- paris

Honey, we’re home!
Welcome to our staycation homestead, 31 Rue Cambon – the infamous abode of Gabrielle (a.k.a Coco) Chanel. It’s not at all what you would expect from Coco’s trademark black-and-white allover aesthetic. Her rouge-infused, Orient/Occident-inspired home remains to be a staple in our Parisian dreams. In fact, we’re still asking ourselves, “Did that really just happen?” and if we could, we’d click our quilted ballet flats to go back in a heartbeat. It’s a surreal and magical place… to say the least!
The East-meets-West feel of Coco’s eclectic place was a Coveteur’s dream come true. There were lions and deers and frogs… Oh my. And who knew Coco was so superstitious? The inspiration for Uncle Karl’s more recent collections is a constant thread throughout Coco’s home. The marble lion with the ball, anyone? Even the miniature birdcage played inspiration for Chanel’s “Coco” perfume campaign, featuring our girl, Vanessa Paradis. From her mahogany desk, which is etched with the legacy of a million scratch marks to her hand-assembled Chinese screens, which enclosed the space, traces of Coco’s legacy remains mummified and hidden away in her eternally beautiful apartment. It never ceases to amaze us how behind the façade of the art-deco-influenced exterior, lies a perfectly preserved and ultra-luxurious piece of CHANEL history.

DJ KISS
dj
- new york

It takes a lot to garner the title of one of the “25 Most Stylish New Yorkers” by Us Weekly Magazine – it’s not an easy feat. But DJ and television personality JaKissa Taylor-Semple, better known as DJ Kiss, grabbed one of the top slots due to her always put together get ups. From her Louis Vuitton purple silk blouse to her plethora of studded kicks (we have our hearts after your Louboutin’s Miss Kiss), at heart, all she cares about is making people dance. And dance she does. She first caught our attention when she spun the epic Alexander Wang carnival-themed FW/11 after-party, and from there, it was only uphill. She’s spun private parties in Hollywood for some of the world’s biggest celebrities like Madonna, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Naomi Campbell, and Jamie Foxx; headlined at some of the most exclusive clubs in the world; spun for a sold out New York Knicks crowd at Madison Square Garden; and added her signature sound to the hottest fashion, music, corporate, and charity events.Need more proof? Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo, Diane von Furstenberg, and H&M have all called up DJ Kiss to have her lend her killer ear to their parties, kicking it back on the ones and twos in cities like Paris, London, St. Tropez, Athens, Istanbul, Barcelona, Mexico City, and Oslo. When Kiss is not behind the decks rocking crowds, she spends time with her husband, DJ M.O.S (where they throw the weekly dance fest at Gold Bar called ‘Baby I’ma Star’) and rocks out every Friday at Avenue, where she’s their weekly resident DJ. But our biggest jealous moment? Her blinged out Remy Martin bottle. Who doesn’t want a gem-encrusted bottle with their name on it? Belvedere – we’re looking at you.

ANNA LAUB
founder, creative director, prism; editor of o: woman
- london

Anna Laub has been in the fashion industry a looong time… and she’s come a long way from her days as a teen model. The girl has worked with all the key players: Hussein Chalayan, Conde Nast, The New York Times: T Magazine, The LA Times… the list goes on. The London-bred, girl-about-town has tried her hand at everything from editing mags—she founded the youth culture mag, PURE—to writing for a wide variety of notable publications. Her most recent endeavour? PRISM, her covetable line of eyewear and swimwear. After being fed-up of not being able to find “cool, optical glasses,” Laub set out to make ‘em herself. You know what they say? If you want something done right, do it yourself! Each pair is inspired (and named after) a different city; and we must say, we’re big fans of Tokyo and Rio! Aside for being picked up by Barneys, Opening Ceremony, Collette and Dover Street Market, Laub recently collaborated with cult-fave Rachel Comey, providing the eyewear for her NYC show. Talk about spectacle! Her love for leopard had us seeing spots for days… but, to be honest, we weren’t complaining. But the real pièce de résistance? Her Alaïa collection. Cher Horowitz would be mega jealous… just saying.

MARA ROSZAK
hair stylist
- los angeles

Mara Roszak gets big brownie points in our books. Roszak launched her career at the tender teenage year of seventeen as the hair stylist to—brace your 90′s hearts—Sarah Michelle Gellar (a.k.a. Buffy from Buffy the Vampire Slayer). We also like to credit her for single-handedly starting (what we like to call) “The Buffy Bob” circa ’98 and a decade later, “The Buffy Braid” trend. But Buffy is only the beginning. Remember when Mila Kunis killed the 2011 Golden Globe carpet in that emerald Vera Wang dress and neatly coiffed up-do? Or how about when Emma Stone showed up later in that peach CK showstopper with her blonde locks perfectly pulled back? All Mara Roszak. (Insert round of applause here.) Her client list features Hollywood’s best: Halle Berry, Mila Kunis, Zoe Saldana, Emma Stone,  Zooey Deschanel… Shall we continue? Roszak’s roster of clients is the marker to the number of publications attached to her name, too. From Esquire (both US and UK) to GQ, Glamour and NYLON, Roszak has mastered the manes from cover to cover. Oh, and did we mention she’s only 25?

JEN KAO
designer
- new york

Two words are synonymous with Jen Kao – “easy dramatics”. Los Angeles-born Kao was raised in Kansas and hailed to NYC in 1999 to study Studio Art at NYU. With internships under her belt in the world of creative design, Kao’s yearning to learn about the realm of three-dimensional design kicked in, and began her growing interest in textile construction. From Jill Stuart to Twinkle, Kao was ready to venture onto her own, and set up her namesake shop in 2006. Since launching her line, she’s collaborated with Alejandro Ingelmo and last year, Kao was invited to participate in The Vogue Talents Corner by Vogue Italia to showcase and sell items from her collection in Milan. She gains even more points in our books, as her favorite website is National Geographic’s digital initiative, and her love for Stephen Sprouse (she has the scarves to back it up) matches ours. She’s got some killer Nike Dunks that glow in the dark (she can thank her brother for those), and a sick set of Murakami/Supreme skateboards (once again – thank you bro). But, it’s her inspiration from outer space that intrigues us the most, referring to her shoe creations as “alien stompers”. “The print on the satin is inspired by NASA shots of Earth from above. I wanted to design shoes that made you feel like you could conquer the entire galaxy” states Kao…and we couldn’t agree more. To infinity…and beyond!

NATALIE JOOS
casting agent & fashion consultant
- new york

We’ve been long followers of the style choices of Natalie Joos, one of New York City’s finest Casting Directors. From Tommy Ton to Scott Schuman, her vintage-inspired ensembles have been documented in countless fashion blogs to date (we will never forget when she was snapped outside of Milk Studios in mid-conversation with ADR rocking dainty ankle socks). Born and raised in Belgium, Joos began her career working as a personal assistant to Glenn O’Brien (dudes, go get his book), and later became the studio manager for photographer Craig McDean. But then, in 2003, she jumped ship and set up her own shop, lending her education in famous faces to the runways and presentations of Hugo Boss, Helmut Lang and Philip Lim. She’s also become iconic for her unique sense of style, housing a vintage collection that rivals that of both Decades and Resurrection. But since her move from Belgium to NYC, her style has gradually become more “Americanized”. “I like the preppy, Americana look. Since I moved from Belgium to New York I feel I have been the victim of slow but steady Americanization.’
